ODE TO THE PAST
(or Freedom At Last!)

This constant battle I wage
against the forces that I see
is combined with an invisible form of
technology

Ages ago it was mandatory
that this invention be present
for without it you could never hope to be
magnificent

Though time has diminished
the desire for such a delicacy
nothing can take away the sensation of this
memory

The pain and the struggle
were part of the transaction
surrendering comfort and ease to become the star
attraction

Know that I love you for the past
even as I yearned for your demise
for no girdle will again be sacrificed upon these
thighs

VESTIGES

A bridal veil
A comet's tail
A billowing sail
A firefly's trail

A shooting star
A lingering scar
A resonating guitar
A headlight on a car

A whispered name
A flickering flame
A promise not to blame
A fading dream to reclaim

A silent snow
A time to let go
A memory to outgrow
A last kiss to bestow
