My Teddy Bear

You started out whole
dark brown and soft
But soon lost your nose
though sewn back oft'
Your gaze always stayed
steady and strong
Though your mouth wavered
as stitching went wrong
Washed and washed
you became a bit thin
Still always huggable
underneath my chin
I wish you were here
to give me some ease
For it seems I still lack
the ability to please
In this grownup world
where we rush too much
You could give me comfort
with your velvet-soft touch

Ageless

Tall and slim I'll never be,
Never willowy and wispy like a tree;
I'm doomed to average, woe is me,
No change of attitude can set me free.

This thing I'm unable to repress,
Though I have improved my hair and dress;
I'll stay this way with all its stress,
Remaining average in my agelessness.

Give me puberty or give me height,
I'll even take up the plastic surgery fight;
Whatever it takes to make it right,
Just give me liberty or give me hindsight!
