IF

If you held me in your arms
a little longer,
Watching as the ships sailed
out to sea;
The evening breeze might grow
a little stronger,
Strengthening your promise to always
return to me.

If the traffic below should pause
and gaze above,
Watching the world disappear
beyond our embrace;
They might smile and remember when
they were in love,
Dreaming of the time they stood here
in our place.

Idiosyncratic

I don’t know why each morning when I awake, my
Dream chases me through the day like a samurai!
I have now spent the summer on a perfunctory journey,
Offering contrition in the hope of finding out why!!
Sad to say, on behalf of my efforts,
Yesterday’s trials leave me nothing to report!
Neither blossom nor rain could prepare me,
Celestial music nor totem animal set me free!
Rationality and common sense made no...sense!
Alacrity did nothing to expedite the suspense!
This situation now leaves me with without evidence;
Insecure, and continuing constantly to brainstorm;
Could I change nightmares into dreams of romantic charm?
