Cinnamon

Cinnamon stick feathers
little clove eyes
creamy white breast
fly up to the skies

Cinnamon and cream
her wings hypnotize
escaping tomorrow
as higher she flies

Cinnamon stick trees
the horizon glorifies
she’s heading for home
beyond the sunrise

A Few Words

I am
a woman of few words
who has decided
to write outside the lines
I am
a woman whose words
are sometimes
misinterpreted
I am
a woman who finds words
are often not enough
to tell the story
I am
a woman with enough words
to tell you who
I should have been
I am
a woman of few words
who has found
her truth...
no matter how few the words

The Rush

Head rush
dizzying stuff
spinning stars
Spanish guitars
heart pulsates
libido satiates
senses afflicted
thought restricted
rushing sound
losing ground
balance upset
cold sweat
symptoms of
flu or love?

Truth Or Dare

On the outside
you are lovely,
you are perfect,
slender, wise;
you reflect
and dramatize,
what intellect
exemplifies.

On the inside
you are lonely,
you are flawed,
timid, shy;
your facade
conceals a lie,
unrelenting fraud
you can’t deny.

Only My Story ~ Part I

Had I listened to me
only to me
my story might have been
told a bit differently

******

Speak only this way
only this way
to become a pleasing child
always on display

Hold your head up with pride
only with pride
showing the world you are pure
with nothing to hide

Walk softly with grace
only with grace
being agreeable to all by
remembering your place

Accept life with humility
only with humility
receiving all you wish for
if you never disagree

******

Failing inevitably in time
only in time
imperfection ruling reality
defining my crime

Now I listen to me
only to me
reclaiming those years
somewhat defiantly

Urban Needs

Needs of the urbanite
their plight
echoes in the night
corrupts delight

Time to urbanize
downsize
before weary eyes
exorcize

Across the wires
barbed desires
who lights the fires?
urban liars

Urbanization complete
ethnic beat
rhythm in the street
urbane defeat
