Kindness All The While

New shirt, new coat
Change the way you look
New dress, new shoes
From the latest fashion book

Try to alter who you are
Make yourself brand new
Try to fool all the world
Though you haven't got a clue

Look inside, find your soul
Your truth is waiting there
Look for love, find your heart
This is what you share

Kind words, kind smiles
Show the world your style
Kind thoughts, kind deeds
Were with you all the while

The Toss of a Coin

One for luck
Two for love
Desires and dreams
Disappear on the wings of a dove

Three for hope
Four for faith
Answers and questions
Vaporize like the breath of a wraith

Five for truth
Six for honesty
Fantasy and reality
Slip silently beneath an indigo sea

Seven for karma
Eight for kismet
The dice or the coin
Designate our living and dying roulette

Rhyme

Thoughts turn into words.
In the tempo, cadence, beat-
A story unfolds.

Parting

Recrimination.
Tears, anger, loneliness, fear-
Who will hold me now?

By The Side Of The Road

By the side of the road
Another dream drifts past;
Another fantasy dims,
Its memory fading fast.

Blown by evening breezes,
A lover’s pleading cries
Tumble along the road
Until their story dies.

Hearts given in love
Are abandoned so easily;
Left by the side of the road,
Forgotten and drifting freely.

Each wisp of paper or leaf
Has a story locked inside;
Touched by dying dreams
Now lost along the roadside.

Those who walk by the road,
Collecting what we discard,
Learn to leave the pain behind
To perish within this graveyard.
