The Garden Of Life

I think I am a weed in the garden of life
Growing with pleasure or fading with strife

I hide in the shade of those who bloom brightly
I weep beneath a moon that blesses me nightly

I reach to the heavens for sweet raindrops of praise
I wither in earthbound gardens on desolate days

I flourish with my own special ability and power
I send roots deep into the earth attempting to flower

I long for the sunlight to illuminate my course
I fear I might perish before discovering its source

I will continue the struggle to grow and create
Opening the pathway through life’s garden gate
